CAST AWAY

Before you know it
something will come 
without warning or mercy.
With no list at hand
of what must be saved,
even your breath will 
be taken from you.

Woe betide you try
to flee with nowhere 
to hide or higher ground.
Against some things there
is no defending,
only succumbing
to a life underwater.
