restoration song
on belonging to the world exactly as you are
Welcome to your weekly Portal. I hope it finds you in the quiet.
THE THRESHOLD
In any given moment, everything can change. Not through effort or discipline or the accumulation of enough good days, but through a single shift of attention. The sudden recognition that the Earth beneath your feet has always known you. That the world has been here holding you all along, saying yes.
This week’s poem is about that yes and about how close the mending always is. About what becomes possible when we remember that being here in this body, on this earth, at this moment, exactly as we are is enough.
THE POEM
RESTORATION SONG from Reunion Songs It only takes a moment to change everything and nothing, all you need is your noticing. The world knows you more intimately than you could ever imagine. Nothing and no one is denied her embrace, not even you. Take off your shoes now, you, here in this body. The body of the Earth rising up to meet you, saying yes. This is where you belong. It's never too late to remember what you've been waiting for, that it only takes a moment to mend a life.
THE PRACTICE
The poem offers a radical proposition: that transformation is not earned through effort but arrived at through attention.
This week, choose one ordinary moment each day - making tea, walking to the letterbox, sitting in the car before you go inside - and give it your full awareness. Feel the ground beneath your feet and the air on your skin. Let yourself know and be known in that moment more intimately than you usually allow. Notice how that feels.
If you feel like writing, choose a prompt that feels most true and write from it for five minutes without stopping:
“The moment that changed everything and nothing was …”
“What I notice when I finally stop and let myself be here is …”
“What the world would say to me if I let her in is …”
THE THREAD
This week, let the ordinary moments be enough.
A breath taken slowly. A cup held with both hands.
Remember, the world has been saying yes to you all along. All that is required is that you notice.
Yours in radical hope … Amanda
P.S. If this week’s poem stirred a longing to be more present to yourself and the world, The Clearing is a monthly guided audio meditation, available to download and return to any time. A quiet, consistent practice of coming home to yourself. The next episode lands tomorrow.
You are receiving this because you chose to. Thank you. If this moved something in you, would you be willing to share it? Together we can create a more just and loving world.
