It’s been a big week! Thank you to everyone for celebrating the launch of pre orders for the limited edition hardcover of Reunion Songs - poems for reconnection and remembering yourself home on Friday. Writing is a solitary gig most of the time, and I appreciate your online camaraderie.
Your support in pre ordering is also lovingly and gratefully received! Upfront print costs are by far the largest individual expense in self publishing a privately printed book, especially a limited edition like Reunion Songs with a limited sustainable print run with luxury features.
Having said that, I understand that the shipping from Australia to where many of you are in the northern hemisphere is prohibitive. Please know that paperback and kindle editions are planned for later this year. I’ll keep you posted about that.
In the meantime, if you’re keen on the limited edition hardcopy and would like to pre order your copy, you can do so by clicking ➡️ HERE.
Onto this week’s poem.
I wrote REUNION the poem 8 years ago. It was an attempt to capture the delight and contentment we feel when at home in ourselves and in the world, before it’s lost once again into the tumble of living.
REUNION The sharp edge of my attention, blunted by years and waning ambition, rests in me now. The horizon a destination no longer, the sum of my affections, another cause for delight. I sit in quiet, ecstatic awe of the world. 🤍AC
Thank you for your precious attention and until next week, take good care.
With love, Amanda
P.S. I’m posting video reflections on the wild ride of self publishing on NOTES in real time partially to help me remember and record, and as a prompt to slow down and relish the process. If you’re curious, here’s my most recent one. x A
hey amanda, i would like to mention that the quality and features of the book were a definite selling point to me
i am thoroughly middle class, but shipping costs be damned 🤪
Congratulations on moving Reunion Songs into the wider world. Wishing you much success!
