The Coven - episode 3
Intention and alignment - on ritualizing for guidance, clarity and potency
Hello creative one!
How are you and how is your heart?
Is your relationship with your creative energy holding in these turbulent times?
Were you able to tend to your creativity/creative project last month? Was there anything that surprised you?
“Creativity is the language we use to communicate the urgency of our dreams for a better future.” ~ Audre Lorde
Last month we checked in with our creative projects/creativity and chatted about establishing and maintaining our creative tending practice.
This month I’m feeling called to focus my creative practice on harnessing and amplifying my creativity in service of Life and so our oracle reading and rooted remembrance visualisation below are in service of that intention and for us as a collective of bold, brave and empathetic souls. I hope that you find them supportive too!
I’ve felt the increasing urgency of creative expression as an antidote to the global unravelling. My creativity wants to express itself and also I’m struggling to surrender fully to it, to feel the peace and clarity and safety to allow it to speak unencumbered. Bearing witness and staying regulated in these dualist times is hard.
I hear the earth, humanity and every cell in my body calling for a long overdue ceasefire on all fronts, a global pause to realign with what is in service of all life and for each of us to realise that we can change things, that another way is possible despite what we’ve been disciplined to believe.
What about you? Is your creativity asking for more attention? Is it asking to speak in a different way in response to the times?
What might this mean for our creative projects?
As I gather together poems I’ve already written for my book project, new poems continue to be written. I’m staying open to being taken in a new direction, to listening for what is being asked of me. Our creative expression has the power to change things. It can be a container for what we stand for. Our work can bring solace and inspire action. Through intention and ritual, we invite in guidance from the world beyond ourselves infusing our work with a deeper truth and potency.
Do you already have a ritual practice when you create? What does ritualising your practice and your work look like? How do you bring intentionality to your work?
Over the years I’ve become much more intentional about how I approach my creative practice. I spend more time creating a sacred container for listening and creating, I’m more devotional in my practice in that I am more steadfast in my committment to it, I’m very intentional about my work being in service of Life, and the more I tend to relationships with the wisdom beyond myself, my work feels more aligned with what matters to me. I also have greater faith in my own wisdom and that another more life giving way is possible in spite of the grim daily news.
Our oracle reading this month comes from Angels and Ancestors by Kyle Gray with artwork by Lily Moses. This deck facilitates connection with our guides and their divine and ancient wisdom. The cards are organised into groupings of Sacred Ones, Guardians and Messengers, Warrior Symbols and Seasons. This deck has only been with me a week or so and felt like the perfect tonic for our explorations this month and for these chaotic times. You can find out more about Kyle and his work HERE.
